What is the Alumni Association about?
This is an association of graduates or more broadly, of former students (alumni).
Alumni Associations are people of various attributes, talents, ethnicity, religion and variegated motivations and are therefore, potential sources of helping their alma mater to achieve their goals of producing quality graduates that can compete favourably with their contemporaries all over the world.
What Are The Functions Of The Alumni Association?
Alumni Association plays an important function in helping to shape the future of their University by representing the views of it’s members and contributing to building an engaged and supportive alumni community appropriate to a world class university. Alumni Association encourage active and positive affairs and activities.
Alumni associations help their universities to meet their financial demands through their personal donations and mobilization of resources from both members and other philanthropic individuals in the society. Most importantly, the alumni members serve as an ambassador of the university in the society. Therefore, we should be mindful of our actions as we are the mirror through which our university is seen.

Why is the Alumni Association important?
In the past, Alumni Associations tended to be treated as a stand-alone activity divorced from fund-raising and other advancement activities. Alumni Associations collaborate with their Alma Mater to bring about accelerated development in their various universities.
This is done through support, fund- raising, skills and experience. Alumni are great role models for current students and are often well placed to practical support to students as they start their careers. Your support may also help your alumni achieve success and influence which will in turn benefit your institutions as they begin to give back.
Purpose Of The Alumni Association
The purpose of the Alumni Association is to work collaboratively with school leadership to advance the vision and mission of the school by: serving as school ambassador; supporting alumni development through mentorship, employment and career advancement opportunities.

When did EBSU Alumni Begin?
The history of EBSU Alumni Association has been a chequered one orchestrated by certain extraneous factors. In 2006 and 2008 under the leadership of Prof. Fidelis Ogah as the Vice Chancellor, some concerned Alumni members gathered and held elections but after the purported elections, their existence were only felt on paper as nothing about the association was heard. However, in 2015 under the vice Chancellorship of Engr. Prof. F.I. Idike, OON, it was announced that the school was organizing Alumni Election as part of 4th – 6th Pre-convocation programme. Many of the members ignored the announcement with the thinking that it will turn out to be like the previous elections that never saw the light of the day.
Some members who are so desirous of impacting on their Alma matar however turned out for the election which was keenly contested and Mr. Kenneth Ifeanyi Ereke (Erekeson) emerged the National President. Since the new leadership came on board, several pragmatic steps have been taken to bring the alumni association to limelight. The Association now have constitution, sticker, T-shirt, Jotter, National Secretariat and above all has inaugurated branches of the Association in other States of the Federation. Nationally, EBSUAA is not left out, as we play vital role at the conference of Alumni Associations of Nigeria Universities (CAANU), an umbrella body of all Alumni Associations where EBSUAA National President is also the P.R.O of the conference.
How, When And Where Can I Join The Association?
By virtue of your graduation and upon payment of the prescribed alumni fee, you have automatically become a member of the association. You are to identify with the Association in any part of the country you find yourself if already existing there. If not, contact other graduants within the locality and constitute yourselves into branches or chapters irrespective of your number and contact the National Secretariat for inauguration.
Above all, be a good ambassador of the University anywhere you are and do not hesitate to advise or help the University at any capacity you can.
Remember, the University, as a father has nurtured you, so, this is a time for you to appreciate the University by supporting both the Institution and the fellow graduates of the Institution.

The paramount mission of EBSU Alumni Association is to provide advice for the progress of the University and promote fellowship among its members, raise funds for support, preserve the tradition and enhance the reputation of the University, which is “RETAINING THE SALT OF EDUCATION.”
